Today in class Mr. P tried to stump us with brain teasers. The last part was quite enjoyable. This is one of my all time favourite brain teaser - do you think you can solve it?
A woman has incontrovertible proof in court that her husband was murdered by her sister. Both the woman and her sister are before the Judge. The judge declares, "This is the strangest case I've ever seen. Though it's a cut-and-dried case, this woman before me cannot be punished." How can this possibly be?
Answer: The sisters are Siamese twins.

Winter Break Homework
Hi everyone!
Last class we recieved two handouts to complete over winter break. One was on writing linear equations to represent patterns. So all you had to do was to chose what equation best fit the pattern. On the other one, all you had to do was to chose what equations best fit data sets and patterns.

Roll a die.
Hello everyone, this is Wandaly.
For the last two classes, we talked about Exponential Growth and started on a relations and functions project. Exponential growth is when something grows in an exponential rate. Diseases such as "The Black Plague," "H1N1," and "SARS" are several examples. We rolled a dice to and if the number 6 came out, we add another die, so on and so forth. This process went on until no time we were rolling 150 dice. After that, we had to graph the results. We connected the data points and a smooth curve pattern came out.
This previous class we started on our project. We had to roll two dice and record the sum. This was to be repeated 100 times. When we're done that, there were questions to be answered.
Don't forget to hand in the project on Monday!

Relation or Function?
Hey!
Last class Mr.P showed us how to tell whether a graph is a function or a relation. He also showed us how to calculate a function. At first it was easy, but then Mr.P stumped us with what we thought of as an "impossible" question, but turned out it wasn't so hard after all. After that Mr.P gave us 3 worksheets, which by the way are all due next class.
REMINDER: Remember to hand in the Tables and Relations on MONDAY! Even though we don't have class on Monday, we are suppose find Mr.P and hand in the assignment.

Input & Output
Hey Everybody,
I am going to tell you what we did in class on December 8th,2010. Well first off Mr.Piatek taught us about Functions, and how to create an Input and Output table. The Input is the Domain (x-value) and the Output is the Range (y-value). The we learned how to create an equation for a table, and how to make a table for an equation. Overall I found it a lot easier then I thought it would be. At the end of class Mr.Piatek gave an assignment for something we learned last class.
*Just a reminder the "Tables and Realtions" assignment is due next class on December 10th,2010. Bye. See you next class. Its worth marks, so try hard :D

Linear Equations and Proportions
This post is about what we did in today's class. First off, we went over our other worksheets which was on Equations as Relations. We learned that if we are given the domain and the range we can use substitution to figure out the solution to the equation. After correcting our work, Mr. P gave us some math challenges which involved longer equations. We learned how to "combine like terms" and how to solve proportions. See you next class! -Melanie M
